The purchase of any product from the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health website will be deemed as an agreement by you (the purchaser) that you have read and understood this Returns Policy and Procedures document.
We (NZIRH) reserve the right to amend this document without notice and such amendments will be caused to be in affect at the time of posting the amended document to the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health website.
All purchases made prior to any amendment of this document will be honored under the Policy in effect at the time of purchase. It is however your responsibility to ensure that you read this document prior to any purchase.
Your Rights
At New Zealand Institute of Rural Health we are committed to providing you with the best possible experience through your contact with us. Our aim is to deliver quality products from supplier to your door 'at or near' Recommended Retail Prices.
Under New Zealand Law, you as a consumer have a number of rights and privileges afforded to you via legislation.
Fair Trading Act 1986
The Fair Trading Act is designed to protect (you) the customer being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including:
- pricing
- where the product was made
- where the product is from
- the meeting of New Zealand safety standards
- availability of products in store
- the sales techniques used

Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
The Consumer Guarantee Act sets out minimum standards for goods sold by New Zealand Institute of Rural Health. In the event that goods sold are not of good quality, are faulty, or arrive at the deliver address damaged, the customer has the right to a repair, replacement or a refund. Policy
The Fair Trading Act and the Consumer Guarantee Act provide the basis for the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health returns policy, our aim is to build trust with our customers by honouring each return and by making the returns procedure as simple as possible.
Courier Damage
Because of the nature of our business and our reliance on the care and professionalism of courier companies to deliver your purchase to your door you must ensure that you inspect, where possible, your package prior to signing for it:
If the product is damaged refuse delivery and follow the steps below. (You will need to quote your customer number and purchase number from your receipt which is sent to you via email seconds after a purchase has been confirmed from the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health website)
1. Even if the product looks fine or if you don't have time to inspect the product always write, " received as delivered " on the form the courier asks you to sign. This is to protect you as every package is insured and helps New Zealand Institute of Rural Health to resolve any disputes with the courier company quickly should you discover the package to be damaged once you have opened it. If this is the case please contact New Zealand Institute of Rural Health as soon as you are aware of the damage.
Returns must be sent via a courier company, we cannot accept returns sent via standard post as we have no way of accurately validating whether a package was sent via this method.
Procedures
It is your responsibility to ensure that each purchase is satisfactory prior to purchase. This includes the product is the right size, colour etc - guides have been made available on the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health website to assist you in your selection.
Should you have cause to return a product there are three options available for our customers, (Follow the steps below to action a return):
If a product is defective or damaged, we can offer to exchange it for another one.
A refund will be given only on products that are defective, damaged or faulty and where such a condition is not repairable. In every case a refund will only be granted upon inspection of the product and any such defectiveness was a result of the manufacturing or delivery process.
We aim to resolve each return within 7-10 working days from the time of receipt at our offices. Should actioning your return take longer than New Zealand Institute of Rural Health will contact you directly.
