While not having personal health care delivery responsibilities, New Zealand Institute of Rural Health staff seek to practice in a culturally sensitive manner in all dealings with the Treaty partners, acknowledging the treaty based values of:
- Relationships and respect.
- Co-operation and using existing relationships to collaborate and work together.
- Advocacy for Maori health gain.
- Good faith between Maori and the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health.
New Zealand Institute of Rural Health staff will work in communities facilitating collaborative and co-operative working partnerships between providers encouraging all parties to focus on addressing government identified health priorities.
