The New Zealand Institute of Rural Health works with communities, providers and purchasers to improve the health status of rurally-based people as a priority in the following areas:
- Research and teaching
- Rural health status, including the health of rural Maori
- Workforce development
- Resource and resource utilisation
- Service delivery

Graduation of CTA Intake Four
Congratulations! Following their completion of the Advanced Diploma in Primary Nursing (Rural) which was arranged and funded by the New Zealand Institute of Rural Health, (from left to right) Diane Fairhall, Rawinia (Winnie) Douglas, Gytha Lancaster, Beverley (BJ) Taare and Helen Rzepecky continued their professional development and graduated from The University of Auckland with a Masters in Nursing on 3 May 2010.
